Letter to Parents
Kappa Delta was founded October 23, 1897 at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Nationally, Kappa Delta has chartered more than 200 collegiate chapters and 500 alumnae associations across the country. Our chapter here was installed in 1946 and is one of four sororities on Georgetown College's campus.
We elect leaders in our sorority annually as chapter officers. Our officers receive guidance and advising from local alumnae that volunteer their time as the chapter advisory board. Our officers report regularly to our national headquarters. Memphis, Tennessee is the home of our national Kappa Delta headquarters where staff work to keep Kappa Delta on top of things across the United States.
Membership in Kappa Delta is guaranteed to be a growing experience for your daughter. We expect our new members to excel academically in order to meet our academic standards, and encourage them to improve. Your daughter will learn the importance of community service as a part of Kappa Delta. We expect all members to stay involved with our local and national charitable efforts. Our chapter has financial expectations for our members in order to make our chapter possible, but our members find these expectations manageable. Overall, Kappa Delta members are encouraged to put their best foot forward and represent our organization in a positive way that will be in keeping with our standards. Our open motto sums this up in saying, "let us strive for that which is honorable, beautiful and highest".
